Subaru Legacys don't have intercoolers.
If however, like mine it does, there are only actually 2 bolts directly mounting the intercooler, and about 3 hose clamps that will need to be removed. it feels like there's more, but once the piping is removed it will come away fairly easily. Just make sure to plug the holes in the piping with clean towels or similar as you dont really want any foreign bodies finding their way into the ducting...
can anyone help me please Its the sensor directly under the intercooler remove the intercooler and a couple of airpipes and you will get at it easiar.
ok
There is a plastic plug that you can remove from the top of the bell housing/gearbox, if its turbo its under the top mount intercooler. You will have to turn the main pully to rotate the torpue converter, there are 4 bolts you'll have to undo. The bolts are hard to remove, you have to crack them cause they are lock-tighted in there.
remove negative battery cable for 15 minutes
Remove the intercooler first. The knock sensor is located under its loation. But you will have to remove some breather pipes to get to it. You will need a long ratchet.
