No. Honda does not sell any of the Mazda vehicles and does not own any percentage of Mazda. Honda currently only owns Acura. Mazda is originally its own company. However, Ford only owns a small percentage of Mazda.
That one over there parked by the Honda.
You are comparing apples to oranges. You should be comparing the Mazda 6 with the Accord. The Mazda 3 competes with the Honda Civic. In either case my recommendation would be to go with Honda. The Accord and the Civic are almost always tops in their class.

No, you are better off with a Honda.
If you ask a Honda person they will tell you a Honda is best and the same for a Mazda person. When Mazda first came out with their rotary engine they had many problems and their reputation suffered for it but over the years they have made many good autos and there are a lot of people who swear by them. Honda has always had a reputation for making quality cars and they usually score fairly high on the consumer reviews. Mazda models usually run slightly cheaper then the Hondas but they carry a comparable manufacturers warranty.

Deciding between these two cars really depends on what your looking for and what amenities are important to you. The mazda generally has beter mileage but the Honda Civic is consistently seen as reliable and having a good resale value. I would personally prefer a Mazda Protege because unless you have the funds to purchase a Honda with model upgrades.
