Check your coolant levels. If they are fine, it could be a faulty thermostat. In addition to the above, the temperature sensor which triggers the cooling fans might need attention. There is another FAQ on this and the answer was found in replacing corroded connectors to the temperature sensor (located on the top of the radiator with a 2 wire connector if my memory serves).

Why do Toyota dash lights stay on after engine starts?

A bad relay switch could be the culprit if dash lights remain on after engine starts in a Toyota. Cold weather can also cause these lights to stay on after the engine starts.

How do you adjust a 5hp Tecumseh carb?

Initial setting: Close needle valve (rotate clockwise) until just seated (DO NOT FORCE) and then open (turn counterclockwise) 1-1/4 to 1-1/2 turns. Start engine and let it warm up (about 5 minutes). Fine tune: After engine has warmed up, slowly close needle valve until engine starts to stall for lack of fuel, then slowly open needle valve until engines starts to stall from flooding. Set the needle valve at midpoint between the two. If the engine starts to sputter while in service, open needle valve 1/8 to 1/4 turn for a slightly richer mixture. How do you adjust carb Briggs and stratton 12hp?

If the engine starts: Let the engine warm up for about 5 minutes and S-L-O-W-L-Y close the needle valve (rotate clockwise) until the engine starts to stall for lack of fuel. Then open the needle valve (rotate counter clockwise) until the engine starts to stall because of too much fuel. Set to half-way between the two extremes. If the engine doesn't start: Close the needle valve by screwing it in clockwise just to a point where you feel it stop - DO NOT FORCE IT!! or you will ruin the tip. Open the needle valve about 1-1/4 to 1-1/2 turns. This should be okay to start the engine and then follow the procedure above. If the engine hesitates under a load, open the needle valve about 1/8 turn for a slightly richer mixture. This is the basic standard procedure with nearly all Briggs motors.

How do you adjust the carburetor on a 6.0HP Briggs and Stratton lawn mower engine?

If the engine does not start: (1) rotate the carburetor main jet needle valve clockwise (close) until it touches its stopping point - DO NOT FORCE OR GO BEYOND THE POINT OF TOUCHING as it may damage the tip. (2) Rotate the needle valve counter-clockwise (open) 1-1/4 to 1-1/2 turns - this should be close enough to start the engine. Start the engine and let it warm up about five minutes. (3) Rotate the needle valve clockwise (close) slowly until the engine starts to stall for lack of fuel, then rotate the needle valve counter-clockwise (open) slowly until the engine starts to stall from flooding (too much fuel). (4) Set the needle valve to a midpoint between the two extremes for the best "purr" of the engine. If the engine "sputters" when a load is added, open the needle valve an extra 1/8 turn for a slightly richer mixture. If the engine starts and you just want to adjust the carburetor, step (1) is not necessary.

What is the carburetor adjustment on a Briggs stratton 12.5 hp engine?

The following procedure applies to all small enginesIf the engine does not start: (1) rotate the carburetor main jet needle valve clockwise (close) until it touches its stopping point - DO NOT FORCE OR GO BEYOND THE POINT OF TOUCHING as it may damage the tip.(2) Rotate the needle valve counter-clockwise (open) 1-1/4 to 1-1/2 turns - this should be close enough to start the engine. If a 1998 Pontiac Transport 3400 starts but stalls out what should you check?

There's a solinoid in the transmission.Suggest to check that first. Turn on interior lights. Start engine. If the lights go out when the engine stalls, you have a bad ignition switch.

How to check lights for dash?

To check the lights on your vehicle's dashboard, start the ignition without starting the engine to power the electrical system. Observe the dashboard; all warning lights should briefly illuminate and then turn off as the vehicle starts. If any lights remain on after the engine starts, consult your owner's manual to determine the specific warning and take appropriate action. Regularly checking these lights helps ensure your vehicle is in good working condition.
