At this point you have the distributor cap, plug wires, rotor, and ingnition coil removed from the distributor. The pick up coil is located inside the distributor housing.
Using an ohm meter, measure the resistance between the pick up coil terminals. On 1992 model they are identified as NE+ and NE-. The resistance should be between 370-530 ohms.
If your reading is outside this range the distributor will need to be replaced. ($140.00 - $160.00 as of 12-01-2013)
$100 if you look hard, or have a friend in the parts business. Less at auto salvage yards. Perform the same test before buying the used distributor, and get a 30 day warranty. Reputable salvage yards offer this.

Hope this helps now, or in the future. I spent a good portion of my Thanksgiving Weekend on my Tercel's ignition problem. That's Exactly how I wanted to spend my Holiday :~O
It is in the fuse box. Check all of the fuses with a test light.
Take the 1992 Toyota Camry to receive a diagnostic test. The machine will allow the test to manually turn of the airbag light and also see what is causing the light to turn on.
start the engine if it runs its good
Check fuel delivery pressure Should be: at idle 13-20 psi with ignition on and motor off 23-31 psi
I have a '95 Tercel and the OBDII port is located inside the fuse box cover on the lower left side of the dash to the left of the steering wheel. If you go to a parts store they will tell you it doesn't exist, so just open the cover and show them. It is in fact there.
To change the starter in a 1995 Toyota Tercel, first disconnect the negative battery terminal to prevent electrical shocks. Next, remove the starter motor by unbolting it from the engine and disconnecting the electrical connections. Install the new starter by reversing the disassembly process, ensuring all connections are secure. Finally, reconnect the battery and test the new starter to ensure proper operation.
Probably a issue with the multifunction swith (headlamp switch). You'll need to test the switch.
Remove it and bring it to a NAPA store. They will test it free.
hey are located inside the distributor and function as the trigger for the ignition system to produce spark. The pickup coil monitors the rotation
To determine if the throttle valve cable on a 1994 Toyota Tercel is bad, check for any visible signs of wear, fraying, or damage along the cable. You can also test its functionality by manually pulling the cable to see if the throttle responds smoothly without sticking or binding. Additionally, if you experience erratic acceleration, poor engine performance, or a check engine light related to throttle issues, it may indicate a problem with the cable. If in doubt, consult a mechanic for a thorough diagnosis.
The same thing happened to my 1995 Tercel. I guessed that it was the Alternator. To test if it was, I disconnected the battery while the car was on, and it instantly turned off, which confirms that indeed the alternator is dead. My mechanic also confirmed it. I bought a new one for $95, and once the mechanic changed it, the lights turned off. The same thing happened to my 1995 Tercel. I guessed that it was the Alternator. To check the fuel pressure on a 3.0 V6 Toyota pickup, you'll need a fuel pressure gauge. First, locate the fuel pressure test port, which is usually found on the fuel rail. Remove the cap from the test port, then connect the gauge to the port and turn the ignition key to the "ON" position without starting the engine to allow the fuel pump to pressurize the system. The gauge should read between 30-40 psi; if it's outside this range, it may indicate a fuel delivery issue.
