The Earth has undoubtedly been struck by many different asteroids over the past few billion years, though the signs of many have been eroded away by weather and geological changes. Among the more well known places of such collisions are the 110-mile Chicxulub Crater at the end of the Yucatán Peninsula (which ended the dinosaurs), the 4,000-foot wide Meteor Crater in Arizona, and the site of the Tunguska River from the overhead detonation of an asteroid in 1908.
The last "major" asteroid impact that hit Earth was about 65 million years ago. It was the asteroid that wiped out the dinosaurs.
The last "notable" asteroid that hit earth was in 1908 in Tunguska, Krasnoyarsk Krai in Russia.
Asteroids with a diameter of about 5 -> 10 m hit the Earths atmosphere about once every year but are vaporised by the atmosphere with the power of a Hiroshima nuclear bomb.
Note: This answer is about asteroids only and NOT comets nor meteorites.

It is said that the dinosaurs/humans and most of the plant life was killed. That was the beginning of the ice age.
ANSWER:Many times in the history of the Earth, asteroids have impacted the surface of the planet. Scientist speculate that approximately 65 million years ago a very large one impacted in the Yuccatan peninsula of Mexico. There is a new theory that this mass extinction was actually caused by a super volcano located in the Deccan flats in India. Meteor crater in Arizona is another example of a smaller impact site of an asteroid with the Earth. See the related link for more information.Other answer
it just hit the earth and yea it hit it and magical pincesses came and bam bye bye the earth dies
Meteors are falling on the earth constantly, the earth gains nearly a ton a year just from space debris falling on it. The most recent big meteor impact was probably in the Tunguska basin in Russia. http://www.answers.com/topic/tunguska-event is a good site detailing that event.
The beauty of this answer is that no matter WHEN you read the question, the answer will still be true! Tens of thousands of meteors hit the atmosphere every day, and hundreds survive the fiery fall to Earth. Most are quite small, things you might never recognize as meteorites.
There is a relation between the size of an asteroid and the frequency of them entering Earth's atmosphere.
There are no current threats to earth by asteroids. That's not to say that earth will never be in a collision-course with an asteroid - only that there isn't any (known) threat of such a collision occurring.
There have been many thousands of asteroids that have hit earth in the past. (Not counting the Great Bombardment).
Some notable ones are :-

Many thousands, and very possibly many millions, of meteoroids fall through
the Earth's atmosphere every day.
Whatever part of the Earth's surface you want to specify, it's very likely that
there have been hundreds of them there during the past hour.
Wikipedia lists 66 meteor showers that can be seen over the course of a year. All of them probably result in a meteorite hitting the earth. So look up a current list of showers and look at the last one just gone. That will be the date you want.
no it was not an asteroid that hit the earth, it was kevins big mouth
The theory of an asteroid named Orpheus will hit Earth and destroy civilization in the future years. The asteroid is predicted to hit Mexico. Don't be afraid because it may or may not happen :)
Well I guess any asteroid could hit Earth. For a complete list of NEO - see related link .There are several hundred asteroids that could hit Earth, most of them have not been named, or even discovered yet.
1991 BA is the closest and smallest asteroid yet observed outside the Earth's atmosphere. Reference.
777,000 km....
There was one significant asteroid impact in 1908 - the Tunguska event. It is possible that smaller asteroids hit Earth after that. There was a smaller asteroid/meteor impact more recently - the Chelyabinsk event in 2013.
What asteroid? There were several.
no it was not an asteroid that hit the earth, it was kevins big mouth
U.S. astronomers said the giant asteroid could hit the earth in 2014.
Yes. An asteroid probably hit Siberia, in Russia, in June 1908.
Probably not. I haven't seen any news about an asteroid about to strike Earth.
An asteroid is going too hit earth this weekend.
Yes.

tilted by an near hit or hit by an asteroid

An asteroid would hit earth first
