In a 1996 Geo Tracker, the fuel filter is typically located underneath the vehicle, along the frame rail near the fuel tank. It is usually mounted to the chassis and can be accessed from underneath the car. To replace it, you'll need to lift the vehicle safely to reach the filter. Always ensure to relieve the fuel system pressure before attempting any maintenance.
I would immediately check the oil level. If you find that it is not low of oil, immediately replace the filter with a new name brand filter. AC/Delco would be my choice in this vehicle. If that does not help, replace the oil pressure sending unit.
First you need to release gas pressure in the high pressure gas line, disconnect the pump harness. Remove the bolts. After that remove carefully the pump from the tank, make sure that there is no dust around. Replace the filter, reinstall.
You release it by taking off the fuel filter. Be sure the ignition key is off. About a half cup of fuel will spill.... more if you encounter a siphoning effect.
remove fuel pump fuse. then start engine it will stall when fuel runs out change filter then replace fuse.

To change the fuel filter on a 1992 Geo Tracker, first, relieve the fuel system pressure by removing the fuel pump fuse and starting the engine until it stalls. Next, locate the fuel filter, which is typically mounted along the frame rail or near the fuel tank. Disconnect the fuel lines from the filter using appropriate tools, and then remove the old filter. Install the new filter in the same orientation, reconnect the fuel lines, and finally, replace the fuel pump fuse before starting the engine to check for leaks.
Could possibly be the electric fuel pump is not producing enough pressure. Or the fuel filter is clogged from not changing it, or a bad load of gas clogged it. Perform fuel pressure test if filter is OK
you open the gas cap to release any charge from the line
i am looking for an oil filter number from any compagny to replace the number 0180-011300-0b00 cfmoto fit on chironex 600 spartan
relieve the pressure by removing gas cap and turning pressure release valve on fuel rail under hood. filter is under car on driver side by rear tire on the body rail. very easy to spot
