It does a couple of things. One, it lacks the protection properties of new fluid. Two, old fluid overheats faster because of #1. Three, it really gets smelly on top of being messy when you replace it because of #1 and #2. Most manufactures recommend replacing every 24-36k.
A "speed" sensor can affect the shifting of the trans.A "speed" sensor can affect the shifting of the trans.
it probably needs a tune up an a intake system flush.. an as far as hard shifting if its a automatic you more than likely need to change the filter an fluid in the trans
need to know if it is and automatic or a standard shift transmission Automatic has no dipstick to check trans fluid.
use, DEXRON III automatic transmission fluid
how do you change the trans fluid on a 1997 328i automatic trans
automatic trans fluid. Mercon works fine.
On the automatic trans, you will have to remove the pan to drain. On the automatic trans, you will have to remove the pan to drain.
I know that a 1994 ranger with a manual trans. uses automatic trans. fluid
Since this is not the type of transmission fluid that this engine calls for, you could possibly blow a rod or miss gears while shifting. I would not recommend this.
mercron / dextron iii. its the standard automatic fluid
Automatic.....Dexron III
There are sensors inside the trans, outside the trans, and on the engine that will all affect shifting.
