The relay is attached to the starter and is an integral part.
On a 1997 Saturn SL1, the crankshaft position sensor is located on the engine block, near the oil pan and behind the starter motor. It is positioned towards the rear of the engine, where it can detect the position of the crankshaft. You may need to remove the starter for better access to the sensor during replacement or inspection.
The starter on a 2001 Saturn SL1 is located on the driver's side of the engine. It is just to the left and in front of the alternator/generator.

how do i change the starter on a 1997 olds 88 royale?
Remove the positive battery cable from your 1997 Chevy Blazer battery. Remove the cables from the front of your starter. Remove the starter retaining bolts. Reverse the process to install the new starter.

If it is because of the drive, it may need a flywheel also. If it keeps burning out the wiring, I would change brand of starters.
