To change the distributor cap and rotor on a 1987 Corvette L98 motor, first disconnect the negative battery terminal to avoid any electrical issues. Remove the distributor cap by unscrewing the retaining screws and carefully lifting it off, noting the position of the wires. Next, pull off the old rotor, which is typically secured by a single screw or may just lift off. Install the new rotor by securing it in place, then attach the new distributor cap, reconnect the wires according to their original locations, and finally reconnect the negative battery terminal.
