The only way to know how much wear has occurred is to compare the rubber with a new one. Always obtain replacement parts from main dealer or reputable agent for the part manufacturer (such as Bosch). Cheap imported pattern parts are a total false economy.
remove the pedal arm pin so that you can freely move the pedal and have an access to the rubber stopper slots.
Had the same problem on my Applause. The brake switch punches a small hole in the rubber stopper on the brake pedal and causes the switch to stay on. Quickest way around this is to rotate the rubber stopper 180 degrees so the switch contacts a new area. Bingo good for another 10 years
the brake switch is located on the upper part of the brake pedal arm. To remove it will require the use of a wrench as this switch is retained with a nut. It is a simple procedure but will take some time because of its location. Note: if you are experiencing problems with the brake lights not turning off it is probably not the switch. Instead it is likely a rubber stopper which needs to be replaced. There are blue rubber stoppers used on the pedal arms. If these stoppers have dried up and broken off the brake lights will remain on. This small gap created by the absence of the stopper allows the switch to act as if your foot is on the pedal
If you mean the brake light switch (tail brake light) , is in the upper part of the brake pedal. Just follow the brake pedal up and you will see two rubber buttons(switch stopper) and their respective switches, those are for the brake light switch(left) and the cruise control(right)
You can purchase it from a Honda dealership or on eBay. See the related link for further information.
The plunger between the brake pedal and the switch is missing. The brake switch plunger is going through the hole with no connection to the brake pedal. Replace with aftermarket rubber stud and you should be fine. Costs about $3.00 and takes about 30 minutes to replace.
how to replace the brake light switch at the pedal of a 2001 ford zx2
look on the brake pedal you will see a lil switch there that's the brake light switch
You can not use rubber fuel lines to replace the current brake lines due to the high operating pressure. You will need to replace them with brake lines, the rubber brake lines has a different construction to hold the pressure and not getting eaten away by the brake fluid, brake lines can hold over 2000psi when the pedal is heavily applied
brake light switch at the top off your brake pedal the little rubber bumber is worn out or the switch is out.... very easy fix
brake light switch is mounted by the brake pedel remove lower panel above brake pedel and then you will see the switch should be able to turn the switch to replace
The brake switch is located right behind the brake pedal. To locate the swithc follow the pedal and yo will see it. when you press the pedal the pedal depressed the swithc. Very often it is not the switch but a piece of rubber or metal on the pedal which depresses the switch. IF the piece of rubber is gone (may be metal) the hole on the pedal is empty and it no longer makes contact with the swithc. In that case replace the metal or rubber. I just added a knot and bolt and it works just fine
