The pulley itself can be removed with just one bolt in the center. It is metric.. maybe 10mm? Not sure but it's a simple procedure. I removed mine with the tensioner out but if you can get to it installed, it should be no problem.
You can remove your 1993 Mitsubishi alternator belt by loosening the tensioner pulley. Slide the tensioner pulley to the right. The alternator belt will become loose and can be removed. Reverse the process to put the new alternator belt on.
To change the tension pulley on a 1993 Chrysler New Yorker, first, ensure the engine is off and cool. Locate the tensioner assembly, then use a wrench to rotate the tensioner arm counterclockwise to relieve tension on the serpentine belt. Remove the belt from the tension pulley, then unbolt the pulley from the tensioner assembly and replace it with the new pulley. Finally, reattach the belt, ensuring it's properly routed, and reapply tension to the belt by releasing the tensioner arm.
Install a new tensioner pulley. If a serpentine belt is loose then the spring in the tensioner pulley is probably weak or the tensioner pulley is hanging up on something. Have fun! Chris
The belt tensioner pulley is held in place by a retaining bolt. The retaining bolt is in the center of the pulley. Remove the retaining bolt and the pulley will come off. Reverse the process to install the new pulley.
I am assuming your car has the 3800 motor. The belt tensioner is remover by first taking off the serpentine belt by using a large socket or a belt tensioner wrench on the pulley bolt and turning CLOCKWISE to release tension on the belt. Remove the belt from the pulley and either leave hanging or remove. Slowly let the tensioner return to its former place (It is spring loaded, be careful not to let it snap back). Once it is slack simply remove it by pulling out the attaching bolts to the pulley bracket and install your new unit. Replace the belt by using your socket wrench and pulling back on the pulley and performing the earlier belt removal procedure in reverse.
Remove the positive cable from the battery post. Remove the cables from the alternator. Remove the alternator wiring harness. Remove the belt by loosening the tensioner pulley. Remove the alternator retaining bolts. Reverse the process to install the new alternator.
* Disconnect negative battery cable * Drain the cooling system save coolant if newer * Remove the drivebelts * On SOHC engines immobilize the water pump pulley with a strap wrench, remove the pulley bolts and pulley.Remove the crankshaft pulley and timing belt covers * On DOHC engines remove the drivebelt ilder pulley bracket and the right side engine mount and brackets. Also remove the main timing chain tensioner cover and the water pump cover from the front timing chain cover.Press the timing chain tensioner piston inward and insert an appropriate size pin into the tensioner hole to lock the tensioner in place.Rotate the crankshaft 20 degrees counterclockwise to loosen the chain around the water pump sprocket * Remove the bolts and detach the water pump from the engine
There are access holes in the power steering pump pulley which allow the 13mm bolts that fasten the pump to the tensioner plate to be removed. Once these bolts are out the pump can be swung out. This also unblocks one of the tensioner plate bolts-- if replacement of the tensioner plate is necessary.
The tensioner Pulley is located and the tensioner. if you look at the front of the engine (or from the right side of vehicle) the tensioner will be kind of down in front of the motor mount, its the only on that will move in a pivot motion. Looking from the front, the belt goes over the Alterantor, down under the tendioner pully and then back up to the Powerstering pump.
What year ? 1993
The crank shaft sensor is located on the bottom portion of the timing cover to the left of the crank pulley. Look for two wire harnesses and remove them along with the bolt.
To remove the alternator from a 1993 GMC Vandura, first disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent electrical shorts. Next, loosen the alternator belt tensioner and remove the belt from the alternator pulley. Unbolt the alternator from its mounting brackets, typically secured by two or three bolts, and disconnect the electrical connections. Finally, carefully lift the alternator out of the engine bay.
