Yes, the oil pump could be damaged if the timing belt tensioner was damaged in the vehicle. It is a good idea to check the oil pressure to determine if the pump is working correctly.
You don't. they are not adjustable. Its a spring tension on it, therefore you would have to replace the tensioner which only takes one bolt to get the tensioner off. Same thing to re-install the new one!
it is advisable to replace as a kit, if you just replace the belt the tensioner could fail causing just as much damage as a timing belt snapping, whilst every thing is apart i would replace the water pump as they could fail aswell causing the same damage as the other 2, i always advise my customers that just because a belt will be replaced the tensioner or water pump could also fail causing a lot more moneys worth of damage, Listen to the mechanic he or she is not messing with you if you put that belt on wrong you will cause your car to bre out of timing and will f#$% things up big time
There are many tips to helping you replace your timing belt. First thing you should do is watch some YouTube videos of how to replace the timing belt. This should take you step by step on how to do it correctly.
You'll have to remove the timing cover which means the motor mount on that side has to come off and the engine weight supported by a block under the pan of the engine. The serpentine belt has to come off first. Then the timing cover. Then the crankshaft pulley. Then the timing belt has to come off. Last thing to do is take the tensioner pulley off last. The new pulley and a new belt will have to have the timing of the valves set correctly. This is beyond the scope of a DIYer. Get a mechanic to do this for you. If the valve timing isn't perfect, the engine will not have any power.
When the tensioner pulley is frozen and u need to change the belt the only possible thing you can do is cut the old belt and replace the belt tensioner pulley, theres no other possible method.
replace the spring loaded belt tensioner as it's the only thing that will keep the serpentine belt tight.
If it turns over and you smell gas it is a good chance the timing has changed . I had the same problem and the timing chain tensioner gear snapped , it is made of neopreme. It took out my motor and had to replace the engine but it also could be a fuse in the engine compartment on the drivers side near the firewall . Hope it is not the timing thing but the 4 litre were known for that problemi until 2004 when they replaced the gear with a metal one
Replacing the water pump on the 2.7 is not and easy thing to do, and if you are not comfortable with resetting your timing it may be better left to your machanic. to replace the water pump you need to remove the both belts and the belt tensioner as well as the harmonic balancer. Once that is removed you need to remove the timing chain cover to get access to the water pump. when the cover is removed you will need to let the pressure out of the main timing tensioner, but make sure that the chain does not skip any teeth or your timing will be out and that could cause major engine damage. after the tensioner has been released of pressure, unbolt the water pump, and make sure as you are taking out the last bolts that the timing chain stays tight on all of the other sprockets, ( the water pump has a sprocket as well). once you remove the water pump clean the area good and install the new pump and gasket. you might be very shocked when you open the timing case as 2.7L are well known to sludge up the oil, if your engine has more than 50-70k miles on it if you are going through this much trouble to do the water pump and you see that your engine inside is sludgy you are smart to bite the bullit and replace the timing chains and tensioners at the same time, I would also do the oilpump as well.
First, is the cam timed right? Did you align the timing marks properl when you replaced the timing belt? That's the first thing to look at. Second, with the rocker cover off, check the valves and make sure they're closing. If any of the pistons "kissed" a valve, the head is probably damaged or at a minimum you'll need to replace the valves and probably guides.
yes the tensioner for this model is hydraulic and yes it leak !

U cannot adjust it it is automatic and if it is making noise, you have to replace it. Must remove engine and rear cylinder head. This is a problem with these bikes. The spring is the only thing keeping it from jumping time, the locking tab is not holding so it slaps back and forth making an annoying noise.
