Bent/broken valves, lifters, pistons, etc. Major engine damage.
There could quite possibly be alot of damage done to the valve train if a cam belt snaps on any car. You would really need to inside the engine.
If the timing belt snaps on a 2.5 Transit diesel, a secondary issue may be valve damage. When the timing of the engine is off, it throws the internal components out of whack.
Nothing
If the timing belt on a 1.6 Astra breaks, it can damage the engine. It is more likely to damage the engine if it is a timing chain, though. A timing chain is made of metal and a timing belt is made of a heavy duty rubber.
At or before 100,000 miles if snaps it will cause much damage.
Its a safe engine so no damage will be done..just fit another belt and tensioner and away you go.. This is a non interference engine so if the timing belt snaps, the only damage is the belt itself. This means that you can fit a new belt, time the engine and continue
I believe the Daewoo Matiz is a non interference engine, so if the belt snaps, you only need to replace the belt, no valve damage occurs.
It is important to have the serpentine belt properly fit. If it snaps twice, it means the belt is work or it is too small.
On an interference engine the pistons will hit the valves and cause severe internal engine damage.
it cam if cam gear falls/snaps off but it is not a interferance motor
hi, its simple on this car because it is a none interferance engine. that means there is no damage to valves when the belt goes. all you have to do is replace the timing belt which should only take about an hour.
I'm not sure on that particular engine. The only damage it could do to the engine piston comes up and hits the valves. On some engines when the timing chain or belt breaks the valves automatically close so there's no damage.
