My book for my JOHN DEERe snowblower , which has a 5 horsepower
Tecumseh engine , shows to use the Champion RJ17LM spark plug
According to my owners manuel the spark plug gap is 30
.030"
The correct spark plug for a 5hp Tecumseh engine is typically the Champion CJ8 or the equivalent. Always consult the engine's manual or the manufacturer's specifications for your specific model to confirm the exact plug type, as there can be variations based on engine year and design. Additionally, ensure that the spark plug gap is set to the recommended specifications for optimal performance.
The spark plug should be gaped at .030"(76mm)
.030
11/64"
0.030" for a champion or 0.020" for NGK and others.
A Champion CJ8Y or J19LM will perform fine
Depending on the model, it could differ, but the most common would be the champion CJ8 spark plug, or similar, double check at your parts store before you buy.
10w40 will work fine!
10w40 motor oil will work fine!
spark plug gap, gas/air mixture on carb.
