automatic Transmission Fluid available at autozone, Walmart, gas stations. anywhere oil is sold.
The transmission fluid capacity for your truck, automatic transmission would be 3 quarts.
That would depend on which transmission you have According to the 1999 Ford F-150 owners manual : The 4 R 70 W automatic transmission takes ( Motorcraft MERCON - V - automatic transmission fluid ) The 4 R 100 automatic transmission takes ( Motorcraft MERCON automatic transmission fluid ) The 5 speed manual transmission takes ( Motorcraft MERCON automatic transmission fluid ) If the automatic transmission has a dipstick check the handle or the dipstick , the type of transmission fluid should be indicated
The type should be engraved in the automatic transmission fluid dipstick . ( if you have the 5 speed manual transmission it would have Motorcraft MERCON automatic transmission fluid in it from the factory )
I was looking at the 1997 Ford Expedition Owner Guide and it shows Motorcraft MERCON automatic transmission fluid for the two models of automatic transmission ( E4OD with the 5.4 liter ) I would also check to see if the type of fluid is engraved into the automatic transmission fluid dipstick
Type F transmission fluid unless it's been rebuilt. Then it would be Dexron III or whatever fluid the builder recommended. Mine it was Dexron III
That would be Motorcraft MERCON V in the automatic transmission ( *** note , starting with the 2002 model Ford Explorer four door there is NO AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION FLUID LEVEL DIPSTICK *** )
You wouldn't want to do that because starting with the 2002 model Ford Explorer ( four door ) there is no automatic transmission fluid dipstick / dipstick tube that would allow you to put in automatic transmission fluid at home
Motorcraft MERCON automatic transmission fluid ( according to the Owner Guide )
what type automatic transmission fluid for Allison at 545 ? I would suggest using Allison Transynd, "synthetic fluid" allisontech
Automatic transmission fluid would likely cause a standard transmission to overheat and wear the gears at a high rate.
Is your transmission fluid full?
There are several things that can cause your automatic transmission not to go into first gear. The most common cause is low transmission fluid.
