On manual transmission Miatas, there are two bolts on the driver's side of the transmission.
The upper fill hole bolt's head is shaped like a square, and you'll need a special, 8-pt socket to remove it. It is strongly advised that you remove this first. You want to ensure that you can actually refill the transmission before you drain it! It is also very common that this plug is extremely stubborn. Make sure you have a good breaker bar and loosen it with rust remover well in advance.
The lower one is a standard bolt that is to drain the fluid.
Fill the transmission filter with transmission fluid before you put the new transmission filter on. You probably will not need to add any transmission fluid.
To change the transmission fluid on a 1991 Mazda Miata, first, ensure the vehicle is on a level surface and secure it with jack stands. Remove the transmission drain plug to drain the old fluid completely, then replace the plug and torque it to the specified setting. Next, remove the fill plug and use a funnel to add new transmission fluid, ensuring you use the correct type specified in the owner's manual. Finally, check the fluid level and replace the fill plug securely.
You add fluid the same place you check the fluid level.
I assume it is a stick-shift? The transmission will have a plug located on the side, where you can add fluid, if needed.
To add transmission fluid to a 1998 Mazda Protege, locate the transmission reservoir. It is typically located on the left hand side towards the back of the car under the hood.

To add clutch fluid to a 1999 Mazda Miata, first locate the clutch master cylinder reservoir, which is typically found near the brake master cylinder on the driver's side. Remove the cap from the reservoir and check the fluid level; if it's low, add the appropriate type of brake fluid (usually DOT 3) until it reaches the fill line. Be careful not to spill any fluid, as it can damage paint and other surfaces. After refilling, securely replace the cap.
Same place you check it.
where do you add clutch fluid on a Mazda 1997
As far as I know, there is no reservoir for transmission fluid. You have to just pull the dip stick up and look to see how much fluid you have and if you need to add more. .
There is usually no transmission cap. The tube that the tranny dip stick is in is where you add fluid if it is an automatic. You usually need a funnel that has a longer neck on it. If it isa standard then there is a check bolt that you remove and add fluid that way. Good luck.
