located in the distributor itself, follow wires coming from coil to distributor
On a 1999 exped. There are two coil packs on the front of the motor. square looking boxes with 4 wires coming out of each one.
A coil of wires wrapped around a core is an electromagnet.
im assuming your looking for hot wires on the coil. They should be two wires of the coil
I suspect that you mean the sparkplug wires? Sounds like you just need a new set of wires since the insulation does deteriorate over time. --Ken

get a new coil. a coil on an engine is designed to take a little power and make it into BIG power. also check wires and connections going to coil. your problem sounds like the coil though. good going in, nothing coming out. there's your problem.
It is in the distributor, pull off the cap and it is held in with 2 screws and has 2 wires coming off of it. dr_performance@hotmail.com
If one of the wires is green and the other is black, the black one goes to the negative side of the coil and the green one feeds the tachometer.
The left coil wires go to 1 and 4 the the right coil wires go to 2 and 3.
It doesn't have a distributor cap. It has a coil pack with the ignition wires coming out of it. The wires going to the spark plugs are number left to right starting at the no. one plug which in at the left end of the cylinder head. It is labeled 1.2. 3.4. The wires coming out of the coil pack are marked starting on the low right side and travel in a counterclockwise position for the plug wires. Going counterclockwise from the no. 1 plug which is at the bottom right side the ordering is 1234.
