im not sure but it is possible anything that has to move
that is to tight can make a noise
an improperly installed ball joint in that truck could squeak and wear out prematurely.
ball joint
clunking noise while going over bumps or the greese fitting on the ball joint is no longer visible or flush with the ball joint housing
ball joint or tierod end
Could be a bad ball joint
Could be that the strut needs replacement, or possibly a CV joint (if you hear noises during tight turns, pops and clicking). Otherwise, possible loose ball joint, improperly balanced tire, etc. Hope this helps.
Possibly, the ball joint is bad or a bad strut, but I would have the ball joint checked first.
To replace a lower ball joint on a 2002 Sable, you will need to jack up the vehicle, remove the wheel, loosen the ball joint nut, separate the ball joint from the control arm, and then press out the old ball joint with a ball joint press. Install the new ball joint by pressing it in and then reassemble everything back together. Make sure to tighten all nuts and bolts to the manufacturer's specifications.
To replace the upper ball joint on a 2002 GMC Sonoma, begin by safely lifting the vehicle and removing the front wheel. Disconnect the upper control arm from the ball joint by removing the retaining nut and using a ball joint separator to detach it. Once the old ball joint is removed from the control arm, install the new ball joint, secure it with the retaining nut, and reattach the control arm. Finally, reassemble all components, check for proper alignment, and lower the vehicle.
To change the ball joint on a 2002 Ford Excursion, first, safely lift and secure the vehicle on jack stands, then remove the wheel. Disconnect the brake caliper and rotor, and then unbolt the lower control arm to access the ball joint. Use a ball joint separator tool to remove the old ball joint, and install the new one by pressing it into place. Finally, reassemble all components, ensuring everything is torqued to factory specifications before lowering the vehicle.

Sounds like the CV joint is going.
