Remove to screws for bottom of steering column cover, then insert key push in small metal tab on cylinder and turn key, it will slide right out
my granddaughter has a 1997 GEO prism LSI. i need to know how to remove the ignition switch
take it to the dealer........
You must first take out two screws under the steering column (directly under steering wheel) then take off the cover, then under the ignition switch there is a small pin, you push that pin in and pull on the ignition switch and it will come out easily. Take note; you must push the pin in and pull on the switch at the same time.
take the key out of the ignition switch.
You mean, I think, ignition switch module, which is the location of the ignition switch.
you have to go under the dash and take out the steering column. and the ignition switch should have a wire going down to the bottom of the column coming from the ignition lock.
take it to the dealer and wait for the bill $$$$$$$$$$.
To remove the ignition switch from a 1993 Ford Aerostar, start by disconnecting the negative battery cable for safety. Next, remove the steering column covers to access the ignition switch. Locate the switch, detach the wiring harness, and remove the mounting screws to take out the ignition switch. Finally, reverse the process to install the new switch.
Take it to a shop
you can take it to be replaced it has a recall on them
Remove the ignition switch retaining ring. Pull the ignition switch out. Remove the wiring harness from the back of the ignition switch. Reverse the process to install the new ignition switch.
You have screws on the underside of the steering column take those out with a star screwdriver take the cover off. Now take the screws out of the switch and you might have to have a key to turn the ignition, the switch comes right out with the wires on. Hope this helps
