First soak them with WD40 or any other lubricant oil. Wait at least 6 hrs. Then use the socket/ratchet. You still have the risk of breaking them... but you can try.

On each side of the engine, four of the bolts that attach the exhaust manifolds to the head, first go through the heat shield, through the exhaust manifold and into the head. These four bolts must be removed to get the spark plug heat shields off.

To remove the heat shield on a Chevy Cavalier, first ensure the vehicle is parked on a flat surface and the engine is cool. Use a socket wrench to remove any bolts or nuts securing the heat shield to the exhaust system or the vehicle chassis. If the shield is held in place by clips, gently pry them off with a flathead screwdriver. Once all fasteners are removed, carefully lift the heat shield away from the vehicle.
if the engine is a 2,4 liter, and if your replaceing the manifold gaskets, the manifold has 8 13mm bolts you need to remove, and also you need to drop the pipe, remove the 3 13mm bolts that connect to the rear pipe, then remove the four 15mm bolts that connect to the manifold, then you can remove the exhaust manifold, dont forget to remove the heat shield on top on the exhaust manifold 3 10mm bolts and one more item unplug the 02 sensor, you should be able to pull the manifold up and out of the way if your replaceing the gaskets, i just pulled the manifold off and up and bungy'd it up out of the way to clean the ports.
To replace the exhaust manifold bolts on a 2006 Dodge Durango 4.7L, start by safely lifting the vehicle and removing any components obstructing access to the exhaust manifold, such as the heat shield or exhaust pipe. Carefully unbolt the old exhaust manifold bolts using the appropriate socket size, and remove the manifold if necessary. Clean the threads of the bolt holes and install new bolts, ensuring they are torqued to the manufacturer’s specifications. Finally, reassemble any removed components and check for leaks before starting the engine.
Chilton manual says to remove the splash guard from the fender well. Then remove the bolts from the catalytic converter to exhaust bolts. Unbolt the manifold bolts starting from the two center bolts, two rear bolts, then the two front bolts. remove the manifold. remove old gasket. replace. If you believe that then it is a relatively simple job. Good Luck!
You must lift the vehicle up and remove the oil filter and then remove the exhaust pipes from both sides of the manifolds. Then remove the heat shield around the starter. Unplug the top wire then take off the other two wires that are held on with nuts on the solenoid and remove 3 bolts holding the starter to the bell housing. The starter can then be removed. Very tough job. The bolts holding the exhaust is the worst. The top bolt holding the stater on is a little hard to get to but can be done with a THIN ratchet.
