To read fault codes without a diagnostic reader on a Skoda Octavia, you can use the onboard diagnostics (OBD) system. Turn the ignition key to the "on" position without starting the engine, then press the accelerator pedal three times within five seconds. After this, the dashboard will display the fault codes through the warning lights, which you can interpret based on the flashing patterns. Make sure to consult a manual or online resources for specific code meanings.
Follow this link. It explains how to pull the codes without a code reader. http://nissanhelp.com/diy/common/nissan_engine_codes_read_2.php
YOU CAN"T. Engine must be scanned
I am sorry but you don't and you will need one to clear codes after the repair.
It cannot be done, you must have a code reader because the system is OBD2, you used to be able to do it without a code reader, but that was OBD1, OBD2 is much more complicated electronics. If you want to get it scanned, you should go to Autozone, they will code scan for free but will not clear codes. You have to pay someone with a code reader to clear the codes, disconnecting the battery doesn't work either
No obd2 requires a code reader or scanner.
HI If it's drivable take it to Auto Zone, they do it for free.
Cycle ignition on,off,on,off,on and watch the odometer area. "p" codes will be displayed if any are present.
With an OBD II reader. Instructions come with the reader. Codes are standard.
There's a nice list here: http://www.jeepkj.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=325 As well as the method of retrieving the codes without an OBD-II reader.
I'm certainly NOT a mechanic but .... since the trouble codes are stored in the vehicle's on-board computer I doubt that there IS any way to retrieve them without a device and a program that can "read" the car's computer.
Any OBD II code reader will do the trick.
I need to know the computer fault codes I need numbered bios codes and not bleep codes
