You're losing spark or fuel. Next time it dies check for spark. If you have spark then you have a fuel problem. Start with replacing the fuel filter. If it still dies I would suspect the fuel pump is bad. A fuel pressure test could verify that.

Fuel may be draining back into the tank. So the engine will turn over but not start until the fuel reachs the engine. If it is damp out, the wires may be bad. The spark will arc before it gets to the plugs, preventing combustion. It takes fuel, spark and combustion to make an engine run.

the fuel is pumped from the gas tank into the "fuel rail" and the gas stays there until you start turning over the engine to start it. the fuel injectors take the fuel from the "fuel rail" and spray it into the cylinder which then gets ignited by the spark from the spark plug. so if the injector is leaking or not functioning the fuel will just flood into the engine if leaking, or not go into the engine at at all if its not working. the reason they went from carburetors to fuel injection is so less gas is wasted because the injectors only spray a precise amount of fuel.

my friend there are a number of reasons it may not start. first thing as always start with fuel and spark you checked pressure but do you have fuel at the injectors? how many miles? dose it need a tune up? dont overlook the obvious. that should of been done around 50k if you got 60-90k on your truck without tuning it up, then your truck is crying for help. were there prior symptons e mail more info. custommiser@yahoo.com

there are many reasons, but the easiest to eliminate would be plugs,wires, cap, rotor and coil. after those it could even be a computer problem.

So! if it won't start then there is probably a bad sensor, bad gas, water in the gas, or any other number of problems. Does it fire a little, backfire, or no fire. Remove several spark plugs and see if they are corroded with oil or gas.
