Are there any home remedies for a blocked salivary gland?

I self-diagnosed myself with a blocked salivary gland recently and the ONLY thing I've come across online is using distilled white vinegar. But you have to be careful, because the acidity of the vinegar can be damaging to your teeth, so use a Q-Tip to apply it to the affected area (mine is on the right side right under my tongue).

If you can't see in mirror where it is that you blocking is, once you apply the Q-Tip to the area you'll definitly know because it burns and you began to salivate alot (enough so that you'll need to spit it out).

While this seems effective, it's only temporary and doesn't get rid of the stone, only increases your saliva production, which I suppose in theory might dislodge the blockage but not in my experience.

Also, you can simply massage the side of your face where the pain is, from the bottom of the ears down to your chin. Like the Vinegar, it temporially increases saliva but doesn't seem to unblock anything (at least not for me).

I'm VERY anti-pharmacuetical but I had to bite the bullet and see my doctor, who without even seeing me, told me to see a dentist, who put me on Amoxicillin, because the blocked gland caused a nasty infection that was spreading up into my jaw and down the back of my throat.

My dentist seems to think that since the Amox will definitely kill the infection, that in the process it should either dissolve or dislodge the obstruction as well. I personally don't see how an anti-biotic can do this but I'm game.

Currntly I'm on day 3 of a 7 day treatment with the Amox and I can tell you that the infection has definitely improved but the gland is still blocked.

My dentist said that if the Amox doesn't do the trick, he'll perform a Renula scan and send me to an oral surgen to have it surgically removed. I'm hoping it doesn't come to this.
