AnswerPersonnally, I've had great success with a chiropractor who resolved a sciatic problem that bothered me for 20 years. Four weeks of treatment and I've had a couple of minor reoccurances that took two or three more visits. That's been over the last five years. ________________________________________________________________

A chiropractic physician may be able to effectively help someone with sciatic pain. Research has shown that spinal manipulation is an efective way to reduce or eliminate the pain caused by sciatica (see reference below).

Either a chiropractic physician or an osteopathic physician may be able to effectively help someone with sciatic pain. Research has shown that spinal manipulation is an efective way to reduce or eliminate the pain caused by sciatica (see reference below). The major difference would be that a DO might also want to put their patient on medication as part of their treatment plan for short-term pain control, whereas a DC would use physiotherapeutic modalities like IFC or TENS and stretches for short-term pain control.
