Research has shown that spinal manipulation is an efective way to reduce or eliminate the pain caused by sciatica (see reference below). The major difference would be that a DO might also want to put their patient on medication as part of their treatment plan for short-term pain control, whereas a DC would use physiotherapeutic modalities like IFC or TENS and stretches for short-term pain control.
