The rapid growth of algae in water can be a harmful event in ecology. This phenomenon is called an algal bloom. In modern times it is initiated and accelerated by the presence of high concentration phosphate and nitrates/nitrites which can be found in fertilizers from runoff from farmland.
Algal blooms in water are often due to slight addition of just one nutrient. Each body of water is different it depends on what the "limiting nutrient" is for that body of water. It is known that a change of pH can release nutrients from the sediments that would cause a change in algal production. If I had to choose a nutrient I would say either Nitrogen or Phosphorous.
i chose nitrogen
not really. it really just grows around it,and collecta all it can from the soil lol Algae growth can have significant impacts on aquatic plant growth. Algal blooms consume all nutrients and oxygen from a certain aquatic ecosystem and may even release toxins. Aquatic plants will not be able to outcompete or survive because of this.
phosphate and nitrogen pollution
Too many algae or plants will block sunlight, suffocating anything that lives below the surface. You need some plants or algae though, for oxygene production.
Algae lives in every zone. Where there is a body of water algae growth of different types can take place.
An overabundance of nutrients and lack of predators. Growth of the plants or algae can, if not eaten, cause a bloom.
phosporous
D. increased growth of algae and damage to coral reefs
Eutrophication is the process by which a body of water acquires a high concentration of nutrients. This promotes excessive growth of algae. As the algae dies and decomposes, it depletes the water of available oxygen. That in turn kills other organisms.
The name of the rapid growth of algae is an Algal Bloom
Under most circumstances nitrates encourage the growth of algae. Strangely, in some heavily planted tanks with high CO2 levels, higher nitrates seem to inhibit the growth of algae.
All three are limiting nutrients for algae growth, along with light.
It causes plant growth and algae growth

Algae use much of the oxygen in water.
Algae is caused by the change of nutrients in the water.
No, but they do move so slow that algae grows on them, that is why they can have a greenish tint. The pace of their movement has nothing to do with algae growth.
rivers and run- off from farmers fields bring extra nutrients into a lake allow increased growth of algae in the water. The result is a population explosion of algae called an algal bloom
