my engine runs hot on my 2000 Dodge Caravan how can i tell if its the water pump i already change the thermostat does not help
If the engine is warmed up, the thermostat has opened and coolant is circulating, the pump is pumping.
from the water pump tell tale hole
hi my car is leaking from the water pump so what can i do to stop leak ? and if i need to change the water pump would you guys tell me how can i change it?my car is 1997 Buick LeSabre v6 engine
easiest way to tell if water pump is working is to run engine until at running temp. then carefully remove radiator cap. with someone slightly reving engine, look into radiator. if the pump and thermostat are working correctly, you will see the coolant moving(circulating) in the radiator
Water leak at weep hole at bottom of water pump? Shaft loose? Bearing noise or wobble when engine is running?
Quite possibly the drive belt is over tensionedANS 2 -You must tell us what kind of pump this is for a good answer. -Is it a water pump in an auto engine, a well supply pump, a pool pump ?
The most obvious symtom would be overheating of the engine.
Top hose of radiator is hot and engine is still over heating usually.
I have a 2004 c230 and I had a squeaking noise when the engine first started. It was my water pump with uneven wear on the water pump pulley that was causing the sound. I will tell you it could be many different things, but this was my reason.
You need to tell us a little more info. What size engine to start. or give us the 8th digit in the VIN code, and it'll tell us what engine.
if ther is coolant dripping out of the bottom of the pump on most ,the 4.7 has a hole at the top.with the engine off grab the engine fan an see if it has play.wigle towards and away from engine.if there is play see if it comes from behind the water pump pulley if you can't tell gently pry pulley away from engine and wiggle.you are also checking for play in the fan clutch.which is the circular thing that attaches the fan blade to the front of the water pump.if there is alot of play in the fan clutch it can ruin the water pump bearing because the fan is off balance.
Water pump shaft loose? Water pump leaking? Water circulating in coolant system?
