According to Vietnam's Department of Geology and Minerals (data): Chromium was not directly involved with the reasons for the Vietnam War. Vietnam ranks sixth in production of crude petroleum and coal, in Asia; and is one of the world's leading producers of ilmenite, phosphate rock, and anthracite coal. Chromium is projected to continue upwards in productivity; in 2003, Communist China imported approximately 143,000 metric tons of chromium from Vietnam, and 195,000 metric tons in 2004.
