Camphor is a volatile solid i.e. its vapour pressure becomes equal to the atmospheric pressure much below the melting point. But, common salt is non-volatile. Hence, camphor may be very easily separated from common salt by a physical process, SUBLIMATION!

How will you separate a mixture of iron filings sand and camphor?

To separate a mixture of iron filings, sand, and camphor, you can use a magnet to attract the iron filings, leaving the sand and camphor behind. Then, you can dissolve the camphor in water as it is soluble, allowing the sand to settle at the bottom. Finally, you can filter out the sand to obtain separate components.

How does one separate a mixture of powdered camphor iron filings salt and sand?

Take a magnet to get the iron out.Blow the poppy seed out with wind blowing or vacuum cleanerDissolve the benzoic acid in pure alcohol (solubillity max. 2.6 M), filter off.Dissolve the salt in warm water, filter off the 'left-over' sand.(it is possible to reverse the last to steps, but then it is more difficult to evaporate the 'benzoic acid'-tincture, after its final filtration, there will be also some salty water -from the previous step- dissolved in it)

How do you separate camphor from chalk powder?

Camphor can be separated from chalk powder using sublimation. Heating the mixture will cause the camphor to sublime (convert directly from solid to gas) and leave behind the chalk powder. The camphor gas can then be collected and allowed to solidify back into crystals.

How can you separate a mixture of iron filings sand and camphor?

To separate the mixture, you can use a magnet to attract and remove the iron filings first. Then, you can add water to the remaining mixture, as sand will sink and camphor will float. By decanting the water, separated sand and camphor can be obtained.

Why can mixture of iodine and camphor cannot be separated by sublimation?

Iodine sublimes at a lower temperature than camphor, so when the mixture is heated, both substances will sublimate. This will make it difficult to separate the two as they will sublime at different rates and mix together.

How can you separate the mixture of sugar and camphor?

Camphor will sublime when heated mildly (sugar will not). Heat the mixture mildly, collect the sublimate separately, cool the sublimate to get camphor.

How separate the sand and camphor by sublimation process?

Sublimation of camphor occur faster by heating and sand remain.

How will you separate comphor from the mixture of sand comphor?

To separate camphor from a mixture of sand and camphor, you can use sublimation. Heat the mixture gently so that the camphor sublimes (changes from solid to gas) and then reverts back to solid form on a cool surface. The sand will remain behind as a residue, allowing the separation of camphor from the mixture.

How you separate a mixture of common salt camphor and iron filings?

by using a bar magnet, because iron fillings are magnetic and hence it gets attracted to that bar magnet

Why sodium chloride is different from camphor?

Sodium chloride is NaCl, an inorganic salt. Camphor is C10H16O, an organic compound, a terpenoid..

What process you would use to separate camphor crystals and sand?

How would you separate alum camphor and sugar?

To separate alum, camphor, and sugar, you can use the following procedure: Dissolve the mixture in water: Add the mixture of alum, camphor, and sugar to a beaker containing some water. Stir the mixture until all the components have dissolved. Add ethanol: Add ethanol to the beaker and stir well. Alum will precipitate out of the solution due to its low solubility in ethanol. Filtration: Use a filter paper to separate the precipitated alum from the solution. This will give you a residue of alum and a filtrate containing camphor and sugar. Evaporation: Pour the filtrate into a clean beaker and heat it on a hot plate or evaporate it to dryness to evaporate the ethanol. This will leave behind a residue of camphor and sugar. Separation of camphor and sugar: Add water to the residue to dissolve the sugar and leave the camphor as a residue. Filter the mixture to obtain the sugar solution and the camphor residue. Recovery of camphor: To recover the camphor from the residue, you can use sublimation. Place the camphor residue in a clean and dry evaporating dish and heat it gently. The camphor will sublime and condense on a cool surface, such as a watch glass, which can be scraped to collect the pure camphor. This process will separate alum, camphor, and sugar from each other.
