∙ 12y agoMonosaccharides:
Monosaccharides are the simplest form of carbohydrates. They consist of one sugar and are usually colorless, water-soluble, crystalline solids. Some monosaccharides have a sweet taste. Examples of monosaccharides include glucose (dextrose), fructose, galactose, and ribose. Monosaccharides are the building blocks of disaccharides like sucrose(common sugar) and polysaccharides (such as cellulose and starch). Further, each carbon atom that supports a hydroxyl group (except for the first and last) is chiral, giving rise to a number of isomeric forms all with the same chemical formula. For instance, galactose and glucose are both aldohexoses, but they have different chemical and physical properties.
The smallest unit of carbohydrate is a monosaccharide, such as glucose or fructose. These are single sugar molecules that cannot be broken down into simpler sugars by hydrolysis.

The smallest identifiable unit of a compound is a molecule, which is made up of atoms bonded together. A molecule consists of two or more atoms held together by chemical bonds.
The smallest unit of an element that maintains its chemical properties is an atom. Atoms are composed of protons, neutrons, and electrons which determine the unique properties of each element.
The smallest possible unit of a covalent compound is a molecule, which consists of two or more atoms held together by covalent bonds. Each molecule contains the specific arrangement of atoms that make up the compound.
The smallest unit of textile material is referred to as a fiber. Fibers can be natural, such as cotton or silk, or synthetic, like polyester or nylon.
Glucose is the simplest monosaccharide or sugar and is the smallest unit any carbohydrate can be broken down to. It is the only carbohydrate the brain can use as fuel and the glucose is stored in the muscles and liver as glycogen which is a polymer of glucose.
no carbohydrate does not consist of amino acids unit
Sugar containing one sugar unit is called carbohydrate.
The smallest unit of classification in taxonomy is a species.
If it is a molecular compound, the smallest unit is called a molecule. If it is an ionic compound, the smallest unit is called a formula unit.
This smallest unit is the atom.
Smallest unit of a compound is a molecule.
A molecule is a compounds smallest unit
A cell is the smallest unit of an organism
Alyssa Carney is the smallest unit of mass.
Glucose is not a protein, it is a carbohydrate.
Glucose is actually a monosaccharide, which is the smallest unit of a carbohydrate. Glucose is also bound to fructose to create sucrose, which is a disaccharide (a larger carbohydrate). Finally, glucose is also a component of the polysaccharide starch, which is definitely a macromolecule.
