What are the main components in a voltaic cell?

Anode - the electrode at which oxidation occurs. Cathode - the electrode at which reduction occurs. Electrolytes - containing the ions involved in the redox reaction.

Do batteries work by Isothermal Convection?

No, voltaic cells (most of what you call "batteries" are actually voltaic cells) work by oxidation and reduction. "Isothermal convection" is a term with which I am unfamiliar that seems like an oxymoron; if everything is the same temperature (isothermal) then convection won't occur, because temperature differences are what drive convection.

What is the electrode where oxidation takes place?

A: at the anode in both an electrolytic cell and a voltaic cell

Why alkali metals cannot be used in voltaic cells?

Alkali and Alkaline earth metals cannot be used in voltaic cells based on water as the solvent because of their rapid oxidation by that solvent.

The reaction that occur on exposure of a tin can to air and moisture after the tin can has been scratched which reaction occur on the anode and which occur on the cathode?

There is no anode and/or cathode when you simply have a tin can in air. There has to be two poles (usually 2 metals that differ in reduction potential). Here you have only 1 metal. But, in a voltaic (galvanic) cell, oxidation takes place at the anode, and reduction takes place at the cathode.

Difference between daniell cell and voltaic cell?

The voltaic cell has but one electolyte, see Voltaic Pile. The Daniell cell is an improvement on the voltaic cell using two electolytes and solves the problem with polarization.
