The model 39 was made from around 1922-1938. Since you didn't mention a prefix letter, then your's would be from 1922-1928. If I had more info as to markings on the barrel, or whether it has the "bullseye" in the buttstock, I could get closer, but not with just the serial number. As for value, it's not possible to determine the appraised value without seeing the gun and examining the bore. marlinguy@juno.com
Roughly 1900. Since Marlin mixed serial numbers between models on the early levers it can be hard to pin down exactly. As to caliber, look on the top flat of the barrel. sales@countrygunsmith.net

The caliber should be marked on the barrel near the receiver. The Model 39 is a 22LR

i would probably place your marlin as having been made in either 1909 or 1910.The last recorded serial number for these rifles was in 1906 with the serial number being 355,300.

As a general rule, you can't ID caliber by sn. It should be marked on the barrel. If not, take it to a gunsmith for a chamber cast.
