Yes, you can.

Many websites can give you specifics on how to do this. I have found a good discussion forum over at Verizon.com and in the residential fios internet discussion forum. Since I use Netgear products I have also found good information there also.

Example. I've recently bought a 2nd router and only want to use it for the wireless devices in my home office. I want to use the 1st or main router that is connected to the internet as a wired router only since it is closest to all my wired devices.

Here is where you need the specifics on how to set up each router and these websites I mentioned will help you with this information. Getting familiar with the terms or options that are used in the router configuration will be most helpful. At least that's what I'm finding out. Now I've got to find the option to turn off the radio wireless section of my 1st router. This is also an option as I may want to leave the wireless turned on with the 1st router but for now I want to experiment with using the newer router with wireless only as it has the latest 'N' or 5ghz frequency used and I plan on using USB N wireless dongles to upgrade my laptops to the faster frequency band.

So, now, I've read where I have to set the 2nd router up whereby the wired IP port addresses don't interfere with one another or I could have problems. Once I figure that out then I only need to plug the cat5 or ethernet cable from one lan port of the 1st router and then to a lan port of the 2nd router. In effect, bridging routers.

So, now that I've got you confused, go forth and seek out more help and don't be afraid to experiment to see what works. You can always push the default button on your routers and this will reset them back to factory settings as before. Or, maybe you'r a little more advanced and have been logging into your router and found out how you can backup your configuration settings to your pc in a folder somewhere and then just as easily load the configuration file back to the router. This, only if you've made some changes you'd like to keep that you've made in the past and are now your default settings. Good luck, and please, anyone, take the time to add to the discussion area here if you find out more information on any of this for the rest of us. It seems to be a new and challenging subject for the most of us and it's only going to get worse in the future as we add more and more devices to the internet.

What hardware connects computers and allow them to talk?

This question has many different intakes and types of answers. Ill answer the most common references. Hardware that allows computers to talk to the simplist level is a ethernet card. With an ethernet card on both computers using a crossover cable you can connect them with each other and allow them to talk. Another more popular piece of hardware that connects computers and allow them to talk is the infamous router. A router is a workstation that connects all computers together and they can share files, media, and an internet connection. If you talking on the wireless level bluetooth and adhock connections allow computers to talk. Hope this helps!

What's the different between a netword adapter and a wireless adapter?

No. A network adapter is usually a card that slots into your computer allowing it to access some kind of network, wired or wireless. A wireless router is a separate device that connects wireless clients (your computer) to some kind of network (usually the internet).

Do you need a hub as well as a router?

If you own a large business that is spread all over (like in more than one city or state), then yes, you will need a router as well as a hub. Hubs only connect local systems to one network, whereas a router connects multiple networks together, thus enlarging that single network.

Yes, but it is probably cheaper to buy a router with both.

What is wireless and not wireless router?

A wireless only router sends out a radio signal to all the devices, B, G and N bands. The computer/devices have to have a wirless card/dongle to work though. It only has the one ethernet port for the modem to connect to it.A Wired only router is one that only has ethernet ports connecting it to the computers/devices. There is no radio transmitter in it.Most routers have both now, usually 4 ethernet ports and the wireless radio as one, so you can connect wireless or wired devices to the router at the same time.An example world be my older tower doesn't have a wireless card and I don't want to buy a USB wireless device so I can just use the ethernet cable to connect to the router while my Laptop connects wirelessly.

Do you need both a router and a modem in order to set up a network?

What device will allow both wireless and wired computers to connect to the same network modem transceiver server or a wireless router?

The use of a router that supports both wireless and wired connections would solve the problem, if I understand properly. Make sure it is a ROUTER, not a switch or a modem.

How do you get online on a PS3 with a DSL modem?

Go to the store and buy a wireless router or wired router and an ethernet cable. After the router is connected to the modem reconnect whatever was connected to the modem to the router and then add ethernet connection to the PlayStation 3 if you are having wired connection. Then go to network connections on the PS3 settings menu for both wired and wireless connections.

What is the difference between a wireless port and a router?

I assume you mean wireless access point? A wireless access point allows you to connect wirelessly to a wired network. A router routes packets across different networks/subnets. Both are completely different devices but can be bundled together.

Can you use a switch to share an Ethernet line with both a computer and ps3 at the same time?

Yes the switch is called a router and it can be wireless or wired with ethernet cables. I use my wireless router as a wired router because it also includes four ethernet cable connections in the back.

How do you use a router to print with 2 computers?

The router must have switching capabilities (as most do nowadays) and your printer must be "Network Ready". You'll need both. The router itself can be wired or wireless depending on where exactly you have both PC's.
