I have a 2001 300m. You have to remove the front passenger wheel. There should be a compartment with a few screws. REMOVE these screws and and screws securing battery(do this when u pop the hood) u might need an extension neck for a socket wrench to reach screws. Then just slide the battery out and replace. Reverse procedure to install. About 15 minutes changing time.
Remove the cables from the battery posts. Remove the battery retaining wedges. This can be accomplished by turning the screws to the left. The battery will come loose. Lift the battery out.

You have to remove the screws to the battery mount.1. Loosen the (2) six sided screws completely in front of the base of the battery.2. Loosen the heightened screw completely that extends from the back of the base of the battery mount.3. Be careful not to cut yourself removing the battery. Lift the battery out of the mount.
It is under the front hood. A) Remove the winshield (Phillips) B) Remove the hood screws (Allen Wrench) C) When the hood screws are remove the hood slides forward and then can be lifted away. To remove the battery losen the post toward the front that holding th rubber pad that hold the battery down. The battery is a Gel type battery number YTZ10S that sells for around $80.

I had the same problem on my 420 SEL, you first have to remove the window wiper fluid container and after you can reach the screws for the battery after that it is simple.
You need to remove the small vented side panel. or at least remove the 3 screws from the wheel well and the one on the top of the panel. Then pull the panel out enought to remove the battery
Remove the screw at the back of the back seat, then the two screws that hold down the front seat and there is your battery. Please remove the negative cable first.
You first have to remove the black metal bar over the battery which has 3 screws. After you take off the bar then you have to remove the one screw which holds the battery in pace which is by the bottom side of the battery. This will allow you to remove and replace it, very simply. Hope this helps!
1. Remove the battery and battery holder to gain access to the lamp. 2. Remove the electrical plug from the lamp. 3. Remove three Phillips screws that hold in the lamp. 4. Install replacement bulb. 5. Replace screws. 6. Reconnect electrical plug. 7. Replace battery holder and battery.
