RIP V1 dose not support CIDR or VLSM as it a clasfull routing protocol that dose not include the subnet mask.. however if you were to use RIPV2 you could use static routing with it as it is a classless protocol and dose incoperate the subset mask in the update

How often does RIPv1 send out its routing table?

RIPv1 (Routing Information Protocol version 1) sends out its entire routing table every 30 seconds. This periodic update helps ensure that all routers in the network have the most current routing information. Additionally, RIPv1 uses broadcast to send these updates to all neighboring routers.

What routing protocol updates routing tables about every 30 seconds resulting in overloaded network traffic?

RIPv1

What information is included in RIPv2 routing updates that is not included in RIPv1 updates?

subnet mask

Which feature of RIPv2 enables it to function as a classless routing protocol?

RIPv2 sends subnetmasks in the routing table updates. RIPv1 does not, which causes it be class-full.

What type of routing uses information that is manually entered into the routing table?

what type of static route does the administrator configure

What is the limitation of RIPv1?

RIPv1 (Routing Information Protocol version 1) has several limitations, one of the most significant being its lack of support for subnetting due to its reliance on classful addressing. This leads to inefficiencies, as it cannot provide routing updates for subnets or differentiate between networks of different sizes. Additionally, RIPv1 does not support authentication, making it vulnerable to routing table attacks. Its maximum hop count of 15 also limits its scalability in larger networks.

List the 2 classful routing protocols and explain the most serious limitation of these two protocols?

IGRP and RIPv1

What is difference between static and alternate routing in a circuit switching network?

Static routing is fixed, alternative routing is dynamic and therefore adaptive. If a primary route is fails, static routing will not adapt and routing is lost. However, alternative routing will dynamically change in order to maintain routing.

What will happen if an interface IP address is entered for the address portion of the network command in a RIPv1 configuration instead of a network address?

All interfaces in the same classful network as the configured address will be included in the RIPv1 routing process.

Which two statements are true regarding the function of the RIPv1 routing updates?

1) It is a distance vector routing protocol. 2) The data portion of a RIP message is encapsulated into a UDP segment.

Routing is a technique in which a network administrator programs a router to use specific paths between nodes?

For ripv1 what type of routing protocol is it?
