I have found that the best way to lose weight is to exercise daily and cut back on the amount of food you eat, and for awhile cut out sweets all together :)
it would take a lot of walking and a healthy diet
Your body cannot use all energy sources from fat reserves it just cannot happen! When you bulk you gain fat, when you decrease calories you lose fat and small amounts of muscle
Just walking on the tread mill isn't everything. If you eat poorlly then it wont do much. But if you couple that with small meals throughout the day (like 250 calories with high protein and low fat 4-5 meals per day) then you could burn alot of fat and lose a bunch of weight.
When done as cardio walking it is an excellent way to burn calories and lose weight. You should of course combine it with a healthy diet, but when done correctly as a cardio exercise it is an excellent fat burner. For information on how to do cardio walking correctly, see the page link, further down this page, listed under Related Questions.
Well, kinda. Short of liposuction there's no way to target where to lose weight/fat. But with the right diet walking will help you lose calories, which eventually will see your buttocks shrink a bit too.
Two things: One - You can't lose fat in just one specific area, and you can't target that area. When you burn fat, it burns it evenly throughout your whole body. Two - You CANNOT lose fat if you are not in a caloric deficit. That is, eating less calories than you burn. The more calories you burn, the more fat you burn, but if you eat those calories, the fat comes right back. The best fat burning workouts are cardio workouts over long periods of time. Examples of good cardio are swimming, running, walking, jogging, dancing, cycling, and stair climbing to name a few. Good luck.
Calories in one poundThere are 3500 calories in a pound of human body fat (enough to survive two or three days). If you wish to lose body fat, you need to burn or lose 3500 calories to lose one pound.
3500 calories in a pound of fat if you were about 140 pounds walking an hour a day would burn 225 calories. It would take you 2 weeks to lose a pound. if i was you and trying to lose weight i would probably do this routine cut 500 calories from your diet (a pound a week of loss) jog for 30 minutes (255 calories) jump rope for 10 minutes ( 106 calories) ride a bike for 30 minutes (254 calories) 50 crunches ( just to shape up a bit because they burn baaarely any calories like 8 a minute.) From cutting a few calories and working out you would lose 2.2 pounds a week. instead of half a pound. (: so basically answering your original question, it would take a while to see any improvements from just walking.
A pound of fat is generally around 3500 calories, so to lose a pound of fat a week you would need to lose 500 calories a day
A teen can lose body fat by eating reasonable amounts of a balanced diet. It will also help to be active, riding a bike, playing sports, or just walking more.
If you want to lose a pound of fat and not water weight, it takes 3500 calories. So it takes 7 days of having a 500 calorie deficit to lose a pound of fat.
calories burned- calorie intake positive number = lose fat negative number = gain fat
