Best Answer

CO2 (carbon dioxide) is made whenever a carbon based item or lifeform burns (is oxygenated). It is also made whenever a hydrocarbon is degraded into water and carbon dioxide. CO2 generation is a natural process. Some examples include:

Converting sugar to energy, in almost all living matter. (Reverse of photosynthesis)

Burning fuels.

Adding vinegar to baking soda.

Alternate answer:

Most of the world's CO2 is made by rotting or decaying organic matter.

You should put a glass in a pan, put two tablespoons of baking soda in the glass, and add 1/3 of a cup vinegar in the glass. You should put the pan since the bubbling mixture is going to bubble out of your glass.

Have fun!

CO2 is formed of of 2 oxygen atoms and 1 carbon atom and is more commonly known as Carbon Dioxide. It comes from many sources including, but not limited to:

  • Burning of fuels
  • Respiration - the process by which all living organisms, including plants, get energy from carbohydrates, lipids etc. Therefore, we breathe out CO2.

burning something, for example glucose.

C6H12O6 + 6O2 --> 6CO2 + 6H2O

With almost every burning of C (with enough oxigen around), CO2 will be created.

(with to little O2 around, you could get CO instead of CO2).

In your body the burning of glucose works a bit different.
