It has a fuse but that fuse may protect another circuit for another component such as the radio.
just solved this it is the odd ball fuse sitting out on its own to the side.
8 --------- I own a 2006 Dodge Stratus, and I also had a problem with my cigarette lighter socket. I located the exact fuse by accident the other day. -The owner's manual DOES NOT specify a fuse for the cigarette lighter. -The internal fuse box cover DOES NOT specify a fuse for the cigarette lighter. (This fuse box is located below and to the left of the steering wheel. Access by opening the driver door, then pull the cover off to reveal the fuse box. The fuse diagram is under the cover.) -The fuse for the cigarette lighter is located in ANOTHER FUSE BOX UNDER THE HOOD next to the positive (red) jumper cable terminal. Remove the cover by pinching the tabs inward. The cigarette lighter fuse is a 20 amp fuse on the bottom row.
I am looking at the 1995 Jeep Wrangler manual (I own a 95 Jeep Wrangler Rio Grande), and it is telling me that you use yellow fuse with 20amp for cigarette lighter and radio problems. Goodluck! About to go fix my Jeep radio/cigarette lighter problem right now.
its usually just a fuse. in the owners or better yet buy a haynes manual for any car you own . in electrical system it will tell you which fuse is for what. my dads been a mechanic for 50 yrs and his best advice is,,, when you buy a car the first thing you should do is buy the haynes manual for it
The fuse for the cigarette lighter on a 1996 Chrysler LHS is located in the fuse box panel located on the side of the dash when you open the driver side door. Pull the cover off and look for 20A LIGHTER AMP HORN. I had my lighter go out as well. But when it went out, the radio went out as well as the horn. The trunk would pop open on its own. Which is dangerous when you are driving and all of a sudden it flies open. Get you a cheap fuse set at Auto Zone or Pep Boys, etc. that comes with a fuse tester. Once you replace this fuse, all other components effected by this short will be back to normal.
I own the same van. It's the only blue fuse - 20 amp I think.
1st: Locate the fusebox, usually under/behind the instrument panel (where your knees would hit the dash)-(see user's manual for exact location) sometimes located under the glovebox. 2nd: On the inside of the fusebox cover you will find the reference for what fuses do what. If the fuse for the cig lighter isn't labeled specifically, look at the Accy, or Assy, fuse. (Accessory). 3rd: Actually look at the suspect fuse. You should see a break, or gap in the metal band that runs through the fuse. (This band is usually "S" shaped). There should be extra fuses somewhere in the fusebox, or on the cover, if not, go to the Auto Parts store and buy them. BE SURE TO REPLACE THE BAD FUSE WITH ONE OF THE SAME SIZE !!! The fuses are labeled according to their ampacity. There will be a number on the fuse; usually 10, 15, 20, 30. This is the current rating of the fuse. Hope this helps, -If you found this helpful, be sure to "Recommend" kevlarster --------------- I own a 2006 Dodge Stratus, and I also had a problem with my cigarette lighter socket. Fuse #8 operates Horn,Amplifier AND Cigarette lighter (20 amp),LED being bad is due to faulty radio, slides out of deck after 2 X 3/8 sheet metal screws are removed.Answered my own question!
if it simply has no power there are two possible reasons, a - fuse is blown on the cigarette lighters circuit b - youve got a wiring problem, such as a wire came loose, or corroded away to nothing. - 10 years as an ase certified master mechanic, i also own the same vehicle.
No, a lighter would not go faster than a truck because a lighter does not have an engine or the ability to move on its own. Trucks are designed to move at higher speeds due to their powerful engines and larger size.
obdii is part of radio, cluster fuse it is the 50's in its own holder
Lighter is labeled Power Outlet and has its own 15A fuse. The fuse block you want is under the the dash below the steering wheel. Get out of the car and lay your head on the driver-side floor looking up and you will be looking at it. There is a plastic cover with blue text that flips off. You can then study the cover to find the fuse - the Power Outlet fuse is third from one end, if I remember correctly. You'll need some needle-nose pliers to pull it out. You will need a flashlight as well to replace the fuse and the cover.
