A constant KVA load is an electrical load which has a constant apparent power consumption regardless of small changes in voltage. Constant KVA loads in industry are typically electric motor loads such as induction motors.

The interesting thing about an induction motor and why it is called a constant KVA load is, for a constant level of torque output of the motor, if the terminal voltage decreases by say 5% the motor current will actually increase by about 5%. Note that this constant KVA effect will only occure withing an narrow range of voltage deviation.

This is the opposite of a static (constant Z) load which if the voltage decreases the current decreases.

When using an external resistive load bank to test an engine driven generator do you load it to kVA or KW?

It does not matter, when testing a generator with a resistive load bank, if you load it to kVA or KW. For a resitive load, i.e. non-reactive load, the power factor is one, so kVA and kW are the same.

Do the load carried by a transformer is affected by KVA rating?

yah! definately affects, the kva of transformer is suitable for the certain load according to the rating.

What KVA rating is required for a transformer that must handle a maximum load current of 8 Amperes with a secondary voltage of 2 kv?

The load is the product of the load current and the secondary voltage. So, in this example, the load is 8 x 2000 = 16 000 volt amperes, or 16 kVA. This must not exceed the transformer's rated kVA.

What is the kva load for a two bedroom flat?

A kva load in the text that you use it is the same as a wattage load. To find your answer just total up all of your appliance wattage's, portable and hard wired, in the unit and this will give you an idea of what you have for a load.

What is the full load current for1600 kva transformer?

It depends on the rated voltage. Take 1600 KVA and divide by KV, and you will get A.

How do you calculate power load given kva?

If you multiply kVA by Power Factor (Ranges from zero to one) you get watts which is effective power.

What is the full load of 35 kva diesel generator?

35 kV.A.

What is the 3 phase generator capacity in KVA of load current of 17.1 amperes?

voltage=400 volts current=17.1 ampere assumed total load since IL=KVA X 1000x0.8/400 therefore kva=17.1x400/1000x08 =8.55kva Gen set

What is the minimum load require to put transformer?

A transformer requires a 75-kVA minimum load in order to be set.

When using a resistive load bank to test a generator do you load it to the kW or the kVA?

When using a resistive load bank to test a generator, it does not matter if you load the generator to its kW or kVA rating, because those two numbers are the same when considering a resistive load. Power factor, which is the difference between true and apparent power, only comes into play when there is a reactive (inductive or capacitative) load.

What will be full load current for 500KVA generator?

KVA = Root 3 VII = KVA *1000 / 1.73 * 415I = 500000 / 717I = 697 ApproxAnswerIt depends on the rated voltage of the generator.

Why transformer are rated in kVA instead of KW?

Transformers are rated in VA or kVA. That is because the voltage is limited by the power loss in the magnetic core, and the current is limited by the power loss in the resistance of the windings. The rated voltage times the rated current gives the transformer's rating in kVA.
