it is a closed system, were no new nutrients are added. the bacteria grow and mutiply. they bacteria go throught the lag, and log phase into the stationay phase. at the same time the nutrients are depletitng. this eventually results in the bacteria entering the death phase maily due to lack of nutrients.

this is difffernt to fed batch as nurtients are added to keep nutrient condtions concentration constant. thsi prolongs the log and stationary phase. particualy usefull for produceing secondary metabolites. this will also eventually enter the death phase, not due to lack of nutrient but due to build up of toxins (waste products of metabolisum)

a continuous ferenetor keeps nutrient concentration constant and number of bacteria constant, it dose this by peridocally removeing some of the bacteria. this genrally maintains the bacteria in the log phase, as their is no build up of toxins and no competion for nutients.

What are examples of batch processing?

Batch processing enables work to be done simultaniously whilst the workers are able to play football in the courtyard whilst production is taking place. this can occur in the workplace and is highly recommended to anyone who wishes to try this. An example of batch processing is the way that credit card companies process billing. The customer does not receive a bill for each separate credit card purchase but one monthly bill for all of that month's purchases. The bill is created through batch processing, where all of the data are collected and held until the bill is processed as a batch at the end of the billing cycle.

A batch fermenter allows microbiologists an efficient and sterile way to reproduce microorganisms. The batch fermenter is automatically sterilized at the end of each batch.

Why is a fermenter usually filled with steam and then cooled?

hi, fermenter is generally used for wine and beer and other products like penicillin, acetone, citric acid etc. before a batch starts fermenter need to be sterilized to kill all unwanted bacteria. steam can provide cell disrupting temperature at 121 c temperature and 15 lbs pressure.that's why steam passed through the fermenter and it takes long to cool fermenter that's why cool water passed.

What are the various types of fermenter?

Fermenter are of two types 1. Aerobic fermenter 2. Anaerobic fermenter

What are the main types of fermentation?

The main types of fermentation are alcoholic fermentation, where sugars are converted into alcohol and carbon dioxide; lactic acid fermentation, where sugars are converted into lactic acid; and acetic acid fermentation, where sugars are converted into acetic acid. Each type of fermentation is carried out by specific groups of microorganisms under various conditions.

What the different between fed batch fermentation and batch fermentation?

batch fermentation : fermenter is filled ONCE until its full, (no more substrate added through reaction), no product harvesting tale place during process. Product is harvested after the completion of the process.fed batch : fermenter is only partly filled (certain amount of substrate is added throughout the reaction), one or more nutrients (substrates) are fed (supplied) to the bioreactor during cultivation and in which the product(s) remain in the bioreactor until the end of the run.

What is the cooling jacket in a fermenter?

The fermenter is surrounded by a jacket of cold water to regulate the temperature of the reaction medium.

How much beer can you brew?

Beer brewing kit equipment commonly can make up to 6 gallons of beer per batch. This is based off the Brewers Best brewing equipment which I've been using. Other smaller, cheaper beer brewing equipment may only allow you to make 2 gallons of beer per batch. The amount you can make comes down to how large of a fermenter you have.
