My (Mexican) English-Spanish dictionary defines (English) 'cafeteria' as:

'restaurant sin criados, donde los parroquianos se sirven a si mismos', i.e.

'restaurant without waiters, where customers serve themselves, or, briefly:

a self-service restaurant.

Which does not sound like the kind of thing the Spanish would have. In the past, at least.
