Hi
I am having exactly the same problem - except that I have not changed the battery recently.
This is a very common fault in Renault megane II of this age as is inherent problems with the turbo giving out.
if you Google Renault megane steering fault you will find many people with the same problems - also visit www.meganeownersclub.co.uk for some more support
Renault in Clapham Bedfordshire quoted me £900.00 for mine to be changed. I eventualy used a non-Renault garage who changed it for half the cost.
5yr/72000mls
every 70000 miles
cambelt should be changed at 70,000 miles , i was quoted £360 at Renault main dealer for cambelt change only , but had cambelt plus water pump changed for £357 at an independent garage.
Not unless it is worn out.
The proper hand position on the steering wheel used to be 10 and 2 but it has changed and is now 9 and 3. I am not 100% why it changed but I believe it changed so you could have a better grip on the steering wheel.Part of the reason for the change was to have your arms out of the way of the airbag.
you can not tell if the belt has been changed or not if not 100% get it changed its a fraction of the cost compared to a full cylneder head rebiled.
i had same problem with my grand scenic if dash is off then it has to be replaced call your Renault dealer i had my dash changed it cost me £100 Renault pay the rest and the cost of fitting it it is a known fault at Renault
I own a diesel (1.9dti) Renault megane 2000 edition. I change the brake pads(front) every 15000 Miles approximately.
Just had mine done & according to Renault garage it's at 5 years or every 72,000 miles. I had to have mine changed due to water pump leakage. It was changed at same time. Hope this helps. Donna
You can convert manual to power steering on a 1969 Camaro. the steering box will need to be changed, and a pump and brackets as well as fluid lines will need to be added.
The washer pump is not fused on a clio as i have one and have recently changed it.
