Sell the car and buy a vw touran instead, the Renault seems to be an exellent deal, but you get what you pay for, that i had to learn the hard way myself, i had water running all over the car after only 6 months in brand new car. Electronics damaged and renault taking no responsability, even if i can see on the web that they have had consistent problems with this since at least 2005.

on my Renault scenic 1998 version it was at the front of the engine bay with a red cap but as for the 2003 version i dont have no idea hope this helps

The air filter on a 2002 Renault Scenic is located on the driver's side of the engine compartment. It is under the huge, black box at the very front, above the driver's side headlight. The cover is held on by a clip at the front.
