Well, working out with weights actually doesn't use up that much calories, but it does tend to boost your appetite. One explanation can be that you're simply overeating. Another possibility lies in the fact that muscle is heavier than fat, so if you're gaining muscle at the time as you're losing fat your weight can increase. If weight loss is your goal you should be doing aerobic exercises, stuff that gets your heart rate up a bit for fairly long sessions.
The only way you can gain weight by not going to the gym is to pig out and over eat. If you maintain a healthy life style and eat properly you shouldn't get fat, but you will loose muscle size, and strength

They are in their room studying for classes and are busy because of everything going on that they normally dont have enough time to exercise, where in high school they had gym. In college there are no gym classes ot stuff that is manditory. There are exercise rooms however in the dorms.
You wont gain any muscle if you don't work out... you can gain some weight, most of it will be fat probably if you will gain anything at all.. Gym is best option, don't waste money on supplements if you don't work out...
yes you can build muscle and loose fat, but you can also gain weight. I tried loosing weight by going to the gym and gained muscle so therefore that made me gain weight eve though I lost fat because fat can be turned into muscle
For a time you will gain weight because muscle weighs more. Over time, your body shape and weight will change. Keep on with the program.
