instead of doing 30 push-ups try to do 4 sets till failure. and switch different push-ups exercises every week, so lets say the first week you do Diamond push-ups, next week wide grip push-ups, the week after normal push-ups and after that Knuckle push-ups. after a few weeks try to do 2 or 3 push-ups exercises till failure and so on, try to keep changing your routine. Make sure to rest enough, so 3 times a week is good if you have 1 day of rest in between, don't forget to eat good too! you should be seeing results in no time :)
About 1-2 months.
It'll take a while man you have to push yourself if you want results and after a while fifty pushups will be easy and you need to make sure to make it tough on your self and do more pushups as your body starts to adapt to the work. Thats he only way to see change is keeping it hard and tricking your body into change by tweaking the workload as you go. Just do pushups to failure for like three months and you will see a visible difference but if you want to get buff you have to focus on compound movements and get in the gym and start moving some weight four or five days a week.
