If combined with a good diet, yes you could gain muscle mass. If you're starting skinny the SURPLUS intake (meaning calories above the daily needs) would have to be around 388-4200 aprox. to gain 1 pound aprox. in 8 days. More cals means more weight gains, but be carefull not to wear your intestine out. spread the calories during the day in 6 meals. Also if you don't have a to great appetite, you can help reaching your goals with protein shakes or whey shakes. Take 2x a day be sure to take 1 right after your p90x workout because it will get absorbed better, but don't expect to gain mass by taking in 4000 calories a day with only shakes ! ONLY real healthy food does the real job and you might watch out for the whey shakes if you have any intolerance for milk, glutes or soy. Look foor the composition of the whey before buying it to be sure it doesn't contain any derivates from foods you don't tolerate. If like me, you can eat anything there shouldn't be any problem. Oh and dont forget to contact a physician before taking shakes because they're quite heavy on your liver and some other organs if you have a medical history or if you don't drink enough water.
