Well to join the army you need to do a fitness test, In the fitness test it has the following exercises 44 minimum push ups in 2 mins and 50 minimum sit ups in 2mins then a 1.5mile run under 12mins. I went on the army insight coarse today and I would class my self as quite fit, I managed 39 push ups and 53 sit ups. I was third in the class on push ups and 1st with the sit ups, Also I came 5th on the run with a time of 10mins and 12 seconds. Around 25-40 push ups in 2mins is good Around 35-50 sit ups in 2mins is good
Well, I'm 12 years old, and I'm 5'0 102 and i can do 40 with out stopping. Last year I can only do 30. :-]
I'm now 14 and I've been working out since I was 12. I would say I'm pretty buff, as I have a six pack big and can do 100 push ups without stopping. Anyway, getting buff takes a lot of hard work, and isn't going to happen overnight. If you are in relatively good shape now and you work out every other night with normal body weight exercises such as push ups, pull ups, crunches, sit ups, and planks, it will take you about 5 months to get buff. In terms of push ups, you'll be buff when you can do about 70 push ups in a row. You should be able to do at least 30 in a row now. Every time you do push ups, after you have done as many as you did the night before, force your self to do another couple. Some people say working out early stunts your growth, but I doubt if that is true, because I am as tall as my dad. Make sure to consume protein after every work out, because it is your body needs it to build muscle fibers.
