It depends on the size and type of pasta. Orzo and angel hair need about 6 minutes or a little more. Thicker pastas need 10 - 12 minutes, or longer. Take out a piece to taste it and test the doneness.
the pasta sauce should be cooked first
Pasta is cooked and served with a (usually) tomato based sauce with added herbs.
Pasta is pasta, whether it is cooked or not. They should be the same. The only difference would be if you added something (butter, oil, sauce, ect.) to the cooked pasta.
Once cooked, pasta should be refrigerated. Cooked pasta will last in the refrigerator for close to two to three days.
Once cooked, pasta should be stored in a sealed container in the refrigerator where it will keep for a few days. If you would like it to last longer, you could try freezing it, but I'd suggest adding some sauce or oil to it before you do.

My smartest friend Korey Colyar knows the answer to this question. NO! You do not need to precook fresh pasta for a pasta bake. Fresh pasta is interchageable with normal dried pasta in recipes. You might want to check it before the time is up though since fresh pasta cooks much quicker than dried pasta. Boiling dried pasta takes 8-10 minutes, fresh pasta cooks in 2-3 minutes. later...K
2 cups of cooked pasta is usually between 200 to 400 calories, depending on what kind of pasta(whole grain pasta 200) and a cup of spaghetti tomato sauce is around 330 calories which also varies.
Basically all you did was rinse your spaghetti after you cooked it. You removed the starch which makes the sauce stick. When you do this the pasta becomes waxy and the sauce will run off. Contrary to popular reading, I quit rinsing my pasta after cooking, with the exception of elbow noodles. If you overcook your pasta, you're not allowing it to absorb that last bit of moisture out of the sauce. Best way to avoid watery sauce is to take your pasta out of the boiling water when it is not completely cooked (this is called "al dente"), then, without rinsing it, finish your pasta in the hot sauce until you reach the apropriate doneness.
A pasticcio dish is a baked pasta dish that typically includes layers of pasta, meat sauce, and bchamel sauce. It is similar to lasagna but with a Greek or Italian twist. The dish is traditionally prepared by layering cooked pasta with a meat sauce made of ground meat and tomatoes, and then topping it with a creamy bchamel sauce before baking it in the oven until golden and bubbly.
Sauce can cook and simmer for a long time before serving. Pasta needs to be served at the perfect time that it is ready. Rick2006
