Christy Harp of Jackson Township, Ohio broke the record for the World's Heaviest Pumpkin in the Fall of 2009. Her pumpkin, grown on her own farm weighed in at 1,725 pounds. She did no cross-breding or utilized ANY fertilizers. She simply kept it watered and added her own compost from coffee grounds, cow manure, and fall leaves. She beat out the previous record-holder, Steve Connolly of Sharon, Massachusetts who grew a pumpkin that weighed in at 1,689 pounds in 2008. She debuted her pumpkin on the "Today Show", live from Rockefeller Plaza in New York.
