Well duh! It's completely and utterly obvious, though not really shown in the actual death note anime series, and I'm not sure about the manga... hmm... what am i talking about? Oh yeah, Matt and Mello totally go together! It's the most possible yet not yet a couple death note couple in the world! Am I confusing you? Mello may also secretly be a girl too, most likely not, but it still makes you wonder, with the hair, the clothes, the chocolate, the hissy fits and whatnot, ect... really though, go look up MattxMello and you'll find more hits for that than any other couple with either of them in it. ~-~-~ Lu, A Totally Insane Yaoi Fangirl. =^w^= <-- (kitty face) ~-~-~

Matt's date of birth is February 1, 1990. L's death is set in 2007, meaning that at the time Near and Mello are introduced Matt would be 17, although he does not appear in any scenes taking place in this timeframe. His appearances take place in 2012, making him 22 during his time as an active player in the story.
Death Note is not a romance. I support the pairing Matt/Mello fully, because it seems quite possible and compatible with the canon. I honestly can't see Mello dating anyone else (mention Mello/Near and I shall strangle you), and they did address each other with very familiar honorifics in the Japanese manga and anime, but there was no mention of either of them having anysort of romantic relationship with anyone. Honestly, could Matt have liked Mello? The guy was only in two episodes in the anime, and about ten panels in the manga. It's not exactly easy to tell.A question like this is left up to the fan's interpretation. It's easy to argue that Mello is gay, and fairly easy to argue that point for Matt as well. But seriously, no one's ever gonna know, unless the creator comes out and says, 'They loved each other'.
Mello comes into Death Note in Chapter 60, in Volume 7, after L's death. He and Near are the two possible successors to L, but Mello refuses to work with Near and decides to go after Kira on his own, kidnapping Sayu, Light's younger sister.
Type in mello pictures and you will probably get a lot of sites. But go to deviantart.com and type in mello. Trust me, it will work...as long as you are not on a school computer.
He does, in fact, die in the anime. While leading the Japanese police on a wild goose chase to give Mello time to escape with Takeda, he is stopped by Takeda's pro-Kira bodyguards. He exits his car and attempts to surrender. The bodyguards then shoot him multiple times and manages to take a final drag off his cigarette before he dies.
Near is in the spin off movie L: Change the WorLd, which takes place 23 days before L dies. There is no Mello or Matt in the live action movies.

Well, one can assume that he would either kill Matt or just accept it and complain about it. It's hard to tell though.
