I don't know about fire red version, but in original red version it is closed until you get to the second city due to "repairs" so I'm pretty sure in fire red, if it isn't when you get into the 2nd city, it will open up when you get a little further in the game. if this doesn't solve the problem, probably a problem with the cable, it wont open up unless the cable is properly connected to 2 gameboys.

One of my hunches is to use the link cable from the gamecube to the SP and trade like that. However considering that FR came after Colosseum then i think you have to trade from ruby or sapphire and then trade b/w FR and one of those two.

∙ 10y agoEasy all you do is once your outside of the pkmn tower in pkmn leaf green or fire red you go in talk to the lady next to the stairs she will tell you stuff then go to the stairs go up use a repel and on i think the 4th floor there will be a lady with a purified area she will let u rest in it it will heal your pkmn but keep on goin up and get passed the maze the mazes are very simple really.........But good luck!
You will need to go to the Saffron City, and beat the Team Rocket, Who have taken over the Silph Corporation.
After you have Defeated their leader Giovanni, He will give you the Silph Scope, that will allow you to Identify ghosts.
The Ghost is Marowak. You can't capture it, So you will have to defeat it too.
After that, just go up, Defeat other TR's Members and rescue the Old Man.

Cloning in Colosseum is simple. All you need to do is open up your save files directly from your Gamecube. You can do this by turning on the gamecube without a disc in, or with the disc lid open. Then go to 'memory card'. You should be able to make a copy of your Colosseum save file, so there will be two identical files. Then you can restart the gamecube, and load the game as usual. Transfer the Pokemon onto your gameboy game from one of the files. Now, there should be a whole 'nother set of those Pokemon on the extra save file :) If this doesn't work, try saving the extra file onto another memory card, and maybe try removing the memory card as you do the trade.
